The Small Developing Island Renewable Energy Knowledge and Technology Transfer (DIREKT) Project was chosen for the Award of best collaborative research project at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Research Day, 2011. The Award Ceremony marked the start of a five-day research exhibition hosted at the Campus, covering the period February 21-26, 2011.

Over the five-day period, Research Institutes, Centres and Academic Departments highlighted the work of their researchers in creating new knowledge, and staged symposia and public lectures to share information on the Campus’ research activities with the University’s Stakeholders. This annual event attracts large numbers of attendees including representatives of regional governments, NGOs, the business sector, schoolchildren, researchers from other UWI Campuses and international researchers collaborating with the UWI.
The Campus Research day is part of a continuing effort, articulated in the University of the West Indies current Strategic Plan, to position the University as an ‘internationally recognized centre of excellence in research, knowledge creation and innovation’. |
