questionnaires at USP
The University of the South Pacific (USP), the Pacific partner of DIREKT, has been making good progress in Work Package 2: “Assessment of needs for market-oriented research and technology transfer”. The objectives of WP2 include needs analysis for renewable energy knowledge and technology transfer that will form the basis for further work. Another of its aims is the survey of the political and institutional frameworks currently existing within partner regions.

Two sets of survey questionnaires have been prepared, one set to identify the research and innovative needs as well as training needs of businesses. The other set is for the training needs of universities. The regional partners will carry out the surveys and analyse the results for their respective regions. USP will then be responsible for the collation and presentation of the overall results.

Target groups have already been identified in the Pacific and the Caribbean. Among the target groups for the Pacific region are renewable energy manufacturing, wholesale and retail companies, government departments, public utilities such as the main grid electricity provider, independent power providers and self-power providers as well as environmental and conservation organisations, non-government organisations, regional organisations, universities and other tertiary institutions. These target groups may differ from region to region, hence the need to identify the groups in all respective regions.
